I am an obsessive experimenter and use an array of top-quality instruments, pro audio equipment and digital tools to realise my sonic vision. i am forever exploring the musical possibilities available to me, and theorising about those which aren't.
Some of my favourite instruments / equipment for sound-creation are:
moog subsequent 37 - an analogue all-round supremo. set the subsequent 37 the challenge of creating a textural component for almost scenario and it will come up with the goods. From sweeping smooth sequences, to toothy, sharp riffs; With this machine, your imagination really is the limit.
Kemble upright piano - A family heirloom and a piano like no other. usually recorded with an open face, the kemble has a sonic character and responsiveness like no other piano i have ever played. it incubates and amplifies complex overtones in a truly unique fashion, perfect for creating an erie bed for delicate melodies to tiptoe over.
wem audiomaster - a rare and wonderful vintage 9-channel audio desk, loaded with a warm and crisp spring reverb unit. i love to use the wem as an outboard unit, running instruments through for added individuality and colour. this desk is from the same family used by pink floyd in many of their live shows.
Coach House studio - the studio itself is an amazingly-versatile and unique instrument. mathematically-engineered pine panneling, airy rooms and precision-controlled acoustics enticed massive attack and portishead through the doors of this historic space, and as a music-creating space, the facility continues to thrive today.
